Its the dev blog for standalone, for those of you who don't have a clue about what its doing, or those of you who are interested in the highlights and the upcoming stuff rather than just reading the patch notes as I've been doing.

Having fires back in and cooking is rather exciting. Pretty soon inventory space is going to be a big issue again, needing to carry so much stuff.

Wonder when they will start putting in bases, it was a goal to have implemented by the end of the year but if the creep on volume of survival gear necessary keeps going like this they'll have to put in an interim sooner.

Oh, here are the updated change note logs.

well there you go scorpie, dayz dev blog says they've:

"new physics system has been implemented, allowing us to have throwing, dragging, ragdoll, and even vehicles."

and

"Weíre also looking ahead further now towards how to best position ourselves to release vehicles, barricading, and advanced physics. Itís exciting times for us all here and we canít wait to show whatís coming in our next video blog!"

tbh vehicles are a bit sketchy with me as i feel they make the map seem small. would prefer they implemented some sort of system to help players find one another more quickly, although there are a million different problems and exploits that would need to be averted somehow, and vehicles left to a more minor role than they had in the standalone.

They could just take a page from the epoch mod.

Vehicles need fuel, so limit the places that the fuel can be obtained. Fuel pumps at servos require power so in epoch that means you need to find a generator which must be placed near the pump to enable the filling.

There a million things that can be implmented to make vehicles a rare commodity.  This will bring a realistic dynamic to the game where someone that had a vehicle would only risk using it in fear of loosing it. Add the new degrigdation system to it where you are constantly needing to repair the thing which would also limit it's use.

Anyway we'll see what happens.

Well in the existing wrecked cars in the game you can open and close the doors, boot etc, and you can see the stuff in them. hoping the same thing is with the working cars. Most items already degrade at least from taking damage, and they've moved to add in stuff like water seaping into your gear and clothes when it rains or you jump in the water. I think there is something a lot more sophisticated in the works.

Regardless I think the whole system of hiding your car out in butt fuck nowhere and hoping nobody finds it while you're at work is a bit retarded and needs a lot more thought.

Epoch has a key system you can lock you vehicles if you have the key of course.. Only way someone can nick it is if they find a hotwire kit. Even then there is a 25% chance it will fail to work..

Also if the vehicle is locked you cant access the gear inside.. There is allot of things in Epoch that they need to implement in the standalone IMO

oh sweet, the big dayz patch we've been waiting for for like six weeks finally hit. Loads of new guns, new town, updates to all the towns, police stations, medical centers, weather, getting wet, cardiac arrest and vomiting.

New update to the blog.

http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/

New town, more guns, physics, throwing and bows, hunting, fires, more art all coming to experimental next week.

Also finally it shows why they haven't let get the mouse settings right until now. They had a more advanced system in the pipes, with weapons lagging behind your view depending on how heavy they are!

Oh yeah, and optimizing the server/client architecture to work properly above 100 players!
