Helped a friend out with prop making for a zombie film
« on: December 21, 2014, 06:56:00 PM »
So basically a really good friend of mine is making a zombie film. He asked me to pull something together at short notice that looked semi realistic and had minor functionality.

M4 SOPMOD

Basically just found a m4 toy and had rails 3D printed. Found a shitty nerf gun sight as a stand in but waiting on a fake EOTech sight to come in from china.

M14 EBR

Fucking pain in the ass thing. Found what was a DMR shell and fabricated the stock and front end had to find another toy to pull the sides off then molded the thing together, Added rails and painted black. Once again waiting on a scope and a bipod.

Any ideas what I can do for the EBR to paint it?

Don't really know about the M4 but seeing as he wanted something "Tacticool" rather then realistic I dont care.

If you're wondering about the tips we just use a chroma key and remove them during the shoot.

Looks fucked as hell now but stops people from freaking out when you pull them out in public.

Spoke with a mate who fabricates prop parts and im getting a whole heap of 3D printed magpul shit to add to the M4.

It's actually starting to look semi decent now.

Nah as long as it's non functioning and has that stupid fluro orange tip you're fine in QLD.

Just me we had enough cops show up about fuckwits calling them when we were painting them =/

Update, He was stoked with the M4 and asked me to do another one.

Also asked me to refit a barrett toy, Like add a steel barrel, remove lights and shit still a work in progress but it's honestly pretty good like 10% smaller then the real thing but yeah can't complain to much.

It's actually pretty mint, Has a working Slide, casing ejection, removable mag and has a heap of "casing" to put into the mag.

Might look to get one myself and have the front barrel casing extended and look to make it a wall mount.

Finally got the kit sorted out for a gig on the gold coast on the weekend. Happy with it bar the fucking patches not being visible.
